"What's the Word" 5 (turning 6) yr old 17hh Gelding, pretty mover, great ground manners, good for farrier, vet, trailer/loading, clips, good in turnout, very sweet and kind. Retired sound from racing, no lameness issues, but does have an old injury to his eye. He has lost some vision in that eye but is not fully blind. The eye is cloudy but was seen by a vet and will remain in same condition without changes. He doesn't seem bothered in the least and is not a spooky horse with the limited vision in one eye. It does not limit his career abilities in any way. His owners was also his groom at the track fell in love with him. She bought him off the track. Unfortunately, time/money constraints have influenced the decision to find him a new loving home with someone who can do something with him and give him the attention he loves. He W/T/C and has done cross rails, has flying lead changes too! Would make a nice hunter. He needs an experienced rider and consistent program. Can be playful under saddle that would not be suitable for a novice rider. Never tries to be mean or dangerous, but playful enough if not in a regular program it could cause a novice rider to get nervous. Word was hauled to a few local shows to hack on the show grounds and was well behaved. He has been out of work since the summer and just hanging out on pasture board. Due to his owner's busy work schedule/lack of place to ride, she has not had the time to keep him in a consistent program so he is still fairly green in some aspects. He would need put back in a riding program, but really loves to work and would come along quickly! He has talent over fences and could easily have a career as a hunter/jumper/event horse. He is more of the sensitive type that really bonds with her person and looks to them for trust and kindness. He gets along with other horses in turnout and is a total gentleman in the barn. Word had 12 starts, $54k earnings, retiring in December 2013.

Important Note About Meeting / Trying PARR Horses
PARR horses are not in active programs, they are waiting for their new homes to start their new jobs. They are often ridden once for a video and hanging out in field, stall at track, or being turned out at a foster farm the remainder of days while they wait to be adopted. Therefore, we do not allow PARR horses to be tried(ridden) for the best interest of the horse and liability risks for the owners, connections, trainers, etc. If a horse is new off the track, we may only adopt to an experienced rider, or capable rider working with a trainer. They will need to return to a program typical of a horse that is either just off the track or getting back into shape, from the ground up with your training methods. Most live at private farms that do not have arenas/riding areas. If we are able to haul a horse over to an indoor ring for an under saddle video we will, but that is dependent on the horse, schedule of foster home, and availability of a facility with an arena or place to ride. Shipping into a farm costs ring fees and sometimes expecting to pull a horse out of a field, haul them to a new place, hop on and expect them to knock our socks off is a lot to ask of a horse....but some of them do just that and those are the ones that sell fast, especially to those looking for great show-prospects for themselves or to bring along and sell down the road as an investment project. We can set up
appointments for you to meet the horses, see them move freely (or jog in hand), and vettings are welcome.
