Read more detailed information about him below:
"Joyce's Hurricane" sticks at 15.3 3/4 hh 4 yo Gelding. His connections at the track said he was useless and just had to go.
This poor guy was so misunderstood, even we doubted he would be anything "special" when we pulled him out of the field, covered in mud (literally...head to toe in mud), threw him on a trailer, took him over to an indoor and threw a racehorse trainer on him to see what he looked like under tack. We were told he was a little wild at the track so we figured, let's put a racehorse trainer on just in case. He hasn't been ridden in a while and we had no idea what he would do. Well....can we just say everyone at that farm was speechless by what potential this little dude had! He never did a single thing wrong, and was being so good we even convinced the rider to try some fences. We are all still talking about it! He was so brave he jumped all the jumps in the ring set up for show hunters. Hurricane had never seen an indoor let alone a jump and he went around without questioning anything. Flowers, boxes, roll tops...not a problem for this cutie.
Hurricane is on the "hotter" end of the spectrum (in a very sane, safe, sensible way!) so we think jumper or event horse is more suitable. He has his own motor and naturally takes you where you want to go, with manners and respect for his rider's aids. A little tense in the beginning (during his first ride with us, at least), he took about ten minutes to relax and stretch and then he was golden. Never spooked or did anything naughty or stupid. Was a gentleman to load, scrape 6" of mud off, bathe, tack up, etc. His last race was August 27th. He came to us in September and has been sitting in a field getting muddy and letting down for the past 4 months. He is ready to get back to work for a new job!!
He is going to be a horse that with 30 days of riding is going to be the real deal. He isn't much to look at right now, but one he is fat, muscled, shiny, and learning the ropes of his new job, we know people will be drooling over this one's natural hidden talents. He has good bone, nice feet, chrome, the most adorable sweetest personality, and tries so hard to make you happy. I don't think he would ever do anything wrong on purpose!
Serious Inquiry?
You can fill out an adoption/purchase screening application by following link below and including references. Send us a Private Message through here or e-mail [email protected] to inquire. Important Note About Meeting / Trying PARR Horses
PARR horses are not in active programs, they are waiting for their new homes to start their new jobs. They are often ridden once for a video and hanging out in field, stall at track, or being turned out at a foster farm the remainder of days while they wait to be adopted. Therefore, we do not allow PARR horses to be tried(ridden) for the best interest of the horse and liability risks for the owners, connections, trainers, etc. If a horse is new off the track, we may only adopt to an experienced rider, or capable rider working with a trainer. They will need to return to a program typical of a horse that is either just off the track or getting back into shape, from the ground up with your training methods. Most live at private farms that do not have arenas/riding areas. If we are able to haul a horse over to an indoor ring for an under saddle video we will, but that is dependent on the horse, schedule of foster home, and availability of a facility with an arena or place to ride. Shipping into a farm costs ring fees and sometimes expecting to pull a horse out of a field, haul them to a new place, hop on and expect them to knock our socks off is a lot to ask of a horse....but some of them do just that and those are the ones that sell fast, especially to those looking for great show-prospects for themselves or to bring along and sell down the road as an investment project. We can set up
appointments for you to meet the horses, see them move freely (or jog in hand), and vettings are welcome.
