Oasis of Chance
16.1-16.2hh Gelding, Turned 8 in February
He ran 33 races in his career with $61k in earnings. He was NY bred and
is by E Dubai (Mr. Prospector) out of an Ultramate mare.
This handsome sweetheart can just not seem to catch a break.
He retired from racing in 2014 and was given time off to unwind and just be a horse by a great woman. He then came to us to find a home, and was quickly adopted by a groom who adored him. He ended up coming back when the groom decided to pursue a new career and go back to school. Oasis was adopted to a wonderful home in Connecticut and coming along really nicely as a hunter/jumper, but it was discovered after a vetting (he started seeming sore behind) showed he does have some arthritis in his hocks so he was returned. He was then adopted to a local home in winter of 2015, but his owner was deployed overseas, so he was returned once again. He is now living in a field at a foster farm with some friends and would need to get back in shape as it have been a month or so since he was in work. He will need his hocks injected once a year, maybe twice depending on work load or as he gets older. A quality joint supplement if you wanted. He does have thin soles and requires at least front shoes year round, with pads if very rocky area or hard ground (frozen ground in winter, pads up front not a bad idea). He does have an old scar on a hind leg from a cut, but it has been examined by a vet and is just cosmetic. Otherwise he is a healthy, happy, laid back and easy going guy. Oasis loves all forms of grooming, stands for mane pulling, bathing, loads and hauls well, good manners, and gets along with anyone in turnout. He is a fairly easy keeper and happy to live outside as long as he has some form of shelter to get out of the elements. Oasis is a pretty quiet guy to ride. He is green but goes under saddle nicely. He has been ridden bareback with a bareback pad, and has gone to some little shows. He is a nice all around laid back type of horse for someone who isn't looking to be a serious show competitor, or have a rigorous career.

Important Note About Meeting / Trying PARR Horses
PARR horses are not in active programs, they are waiting for their new homes to start their new jobs. They are often ridden once for a video and hanging out in field, stall at track, or being turned out at a foster farm the remainder of days while they wait to be adopted. Therefore, we do not allow PARR horses to be tried(ridden) for the best interest of the horse and liability risks for the owners, connections, trainers, etc. If a horse is new off the track, we may only adopt to an experienced rider, or capable rider working with a trainer. They will need to return to a program typical of a horse that is either just off the track or getting back into shape, from the ground up with your training methods. Most live at private farms that do not have arenas/riding areas. If we are able to haul a horse over to an indoor ring for an under saddle video we will, but that is dependent on the horse, schedule of foster home, and availability of a facility with an arena or place to ride. Shipping into a farm costs ring fees and sometimes expecting to pull a horse out of a field, haul them to a new place, hop on and expect them to knock our socks off is a lot to ask of a horse....but some of them do just that and those are the ones that sell fast, especially to those looking for great show-prospects for themselves or to bring along and sell down the road as an investment project. We can set up
appointments for you to meet the horses, see them move freely (or jog in hand), and vettings are welcome.
